Years ago, as the CFI was going through some bad and difficult times, I called my chapter director to complain about the situation, threatening to cancel my membership. Keep in mind that I have been a member since 1988, and I always held my membership very dearly. After a short conversation, he explained how difficult it was for a few guys working as volunteers to do all there is to do and still get it all right. He went on to tell me that one way to fix irregularities was from the inside, and challenged me to be a director; that was 12 years ago.
As a new CFI fiscal year comes to an end, once again it’s time to fill the positions being left vacant by directors completing their terms. This is your opportunity to jump in. The rewards have been immense for me, and I know they can be for anybody else that decides to volunteer their time to CFI. Only you can make it happen.
So my challenge to you today is “jump on board”. Work with some of the most exciting and successful people in the industry. Harvest the benefits of those relationships and grow your business and your personal life.
Soon you will receiving a slate of candidates from CFI. Fill it up, include your name in it if you wish to be considered for a board position or write the name of someone you would like to nominate. VOTE.
I can’t stress enough how important it is to continue with 55 years of strong tradition, industry presence and leadership. Be part of it and contribute to the industry you are in. Make a difference.
I hope to see you all at Connections in September in Las Vegas, where during our annual meeting you will have an opportunity to review CFI yearly reports and you will be introduced to the new leadership. Until then,
